PROJECT: Exciting new nail varnish product identity for Palette London, a new UK cosmetics brand.
Initially designed by us as part of an entire cosmetics branding project, featuring nail, lip and eye products, Palette London’s first products to launch are a range of off-the-shelf nail ‘paints’ (varnishes, top coats and special effects) and a highly innovative ‘Create Your Own Nail Paint’ nail paint kit.
ALL ABOUT THE DOTS
Inspired by children’s watercolour and poster paint palettes, the brand’s general design theme plays on the idea of a cosmetic ‘artist’ or ‘painter’ and features a pattern of highly colourful dots representing colour swatches or daubs of paint, shown on a simple white background or ‘canvas’.
The logo is deliberately bold and understated to remain highly visible amongst the colour!
‘Create Your Own…’ COLOUR MIXING KIT
The idea of a paint palette is drawn on further with this new ‘mix your own’ set. Comprising of a lift-up windowed box, the kit contains five base varnish colours, pipettes, empty mixing bottles and full instructions to allow you to create your own custom nail varnish colours. Perfect for matching your outfit!
Step-by-step example ‘recipes’ for mixing some standard nail varnish colours are shown on the reverse of the carton and on the accompanying instruction leaflet, along with encouragement to get creative and create your own varnish colours!
THE DETAILS
As well as the overall nail varnish product identity, we have created all of the print artworks required for the mixing kit set, along with the individual peel and read base labels, as well as the design of the bottles for the full size versions of the stock nail varnish colours.
The ready-made nail varnishes (or ‘paints’ as they are referred to) feature a fun colour-matched ‘paint drip’ detail to further add to the ‘artist/painter’ analogy that makes up this nail varnish product identity.
We have also created the web banners for the brand’s website and continue to support the brand.

Other beauty brand projects we have worked on are Impression eye lash packaging graphics and Keromask cover-up cosmetics.
