PROJECT: A new addition to the Kaniz brand of hair and beauty products – a range of strong-hold hair edge control products with packaging graphics designed by Paul Cartwright Branding.
CONTROL THOSE EDGES!
We were asked to design the identity for the brand’s new venture into hair edge control pomades, a specific type of product for controlling the fine, baby hairs that don’t lie flat or tidily when creating pull-backed hair styles.
In an already popular market the identity of the new edge control product had to be bold and eye-catching.
The logo, comprising of the Kaniz logo and the product range name – WonderEdge, are part of a graphic lockup along with the product type and its main feature of containing Argan oil.
The first product in the range is a strong-hold water based pomade sold in bespoke screw-top jars, designed to allow the product to be applied with the finger tips to the rogue hairs on the scalp.
Available in twelve different fragrances with a choice of coconut & banana, sweet peach or blueberry among others, our brand identity conveys these through the use of bold, fruity colours. The colours appear both as part of the inner plastic moulding of the jar and also printed on the transparent jar and on the lid.
To reflect this rainbow of colour, we have created a stunning, multi-coloured background image for use on all marketing and advertising – the variety of rainbow colours ties in playfully with the ‘wonder’ element of the brand’s name WonderEdge.
STRONG-HOLD EDGE CONTROL
The success of these type of products is in their ability to hold the hair for a reasonable time and we have created a ‘HOLD POWER’ scale which appears on the sides of every product, allowing customers to check the suitability for their hair.
STICK FORMAT POMADE
As an alternative to the gel-in-a-jar products, a smaller, matching range of hair edge control products has been created in the form of a stick, allowing the product to be applied ‘glue-stick’ style. The initial offering in the three most popular fragrances (strawberry, pineapple and coconut & banana.)
Here, the bodies of the stick product have been colour-matched and feature the same modern graphic style.
EYE-CATCHING MARKETING MATERIALS
To assist in the marketing of this new product range we have also created retail posters, magazine advertisements and product presentation documents – even the company’s vehicles have been branded accordingly!
